TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Ryan Fitzgerald hit his first career home run in the top of the second inning to finish 1-for-3 with two RBIs, a walk and a run scored while Tyler Trovinger and Emerson Misch each went 2-for-4 as the Oakland baseball team fell to Indiana State in the series opener 8-4 Friday afternoon at Sycamore Stadium.

The Golden Grizzlies led through the first five innings of the game until the Sycamores put together a four-run sixth inning to give them a 5-2 advantage. Oakland responded with two runs in the seventh inning thanks to a RBI-triple by Myles Zilinsky and a RBI-single by Tyler Pagano. ISU matched with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning and added another run in the eighth inning. Game two will begin tomorrow at 2 p.m.
