Oct. 6, 2017

INDIANAPOLIS -- For the first time as a member of the Horizon League, the Oakland men's basketball team was picked as the league favorite receiving 31 of 47 first-place votes in the 2017-18 Men's Basketball Preseason Poll announced on Friday morning. The preseason poll was voted on by the league's 10 head coaches, media members, and men's basketball contacts throughout the league.

The Golden Grizzlies, the reigning regular season champions, were selected to win their league for the first time since 2010 when they were a member of The Summit League.
