INDIANAPOLIS - Oakland's George O'Connor and Dana Tessmer were named Horizon League Runner and Athlete of the Week, respectively, for the week of Jan. 9-15 after recording first place finishes in their respective events at the Jack Skoog Invitational.

O'Connor, a redshirt senior from Croswell, Mich., placed first out of 18 runners in the mile with a time of 4:17.73 to help lead Oakland's men team to a first place finish over host Central Michigan and Alma.

Tessmer, a sophomore from Dexter, Mich., placed first out of eight in the pole vault with a mark of 11 ft., 7.75 in. helping the women's team finish second behind CMU.
