BOWSER, JOHNSON SELECTED AS CLEVELAND GOLF/SRIXON ALL-AMERICA SCHOLARS

NORMAN, Okla. - Oakland University men's golf team members Evan Bowser and Jacob Johnson were named to the 2016 Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar Team, announced the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) this week. Johnson earns his first-ever honor, while Bowser becomes a two-time recipient of the award.

Bowser, a native of Dearborn, Mich., graduated this season with a 3.36 GPA in Finance and tied for the team lead with a 73.43 stroke average, including a team-best three top-10 finishes. He ended his career as the school's all-time leader in stroke average and rounds under par. Johnson, a native of Lansing, Mich., is a Business Administration major who holds a 3.76 overall GPA and finished third on the team with a 75.21 stroke average. He shot a career-low 69 (-2) at the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate en route to finishing in the top 20.

To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50-percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
