OAKLAND ALUM BRIAN STUARD WINS FIRST-EVER PGA TOUR EVENT

May 2, 2016

ROCHESTER, Mich. - Oakland University men's golf alum Brian Stuard captured his first-ever PGA Tour victory on Monday in a two-hole playoff at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans at TPC of Louisiana. Stuard earned a degree in management in 2005 and was inducted into the Hollie L. Lepley Hall of Honor on April 18th.

Stuard made birdie on 18 to join a three-person playoff. After making par on the first playoff hole, Stuard executed a tremendous approach shot from 170 yards to about three feet, and sank the birdie putt to claim his first professional title on the PGA Tour. With the win, he becomes exempt on the tour for the next two years and receives an invitation to the Masters in 2017.

Stuard won the Mid-Continent Conference title in 2005 and holds the school record for single-season scoring average with a 72.25 mark during his senior season. He won a school record tying four tournaments that year, matching his record from the previous season.
