OLD DOMINION

Head Coach Jeff Jones

On defending Kay Felderââ'¬Â¦

We just tried to be solid. You know a guy like that is athletic and skilled as he is, you don't shut him down. You make him work, try to give plenty of help and then make sure we had a hand in his face every time he took a shot. You always had that feeling that he was getting ready to turn it on. One of the real keys in the first half, was he just didn't get into open space. I don't care how many guys you had out there in transition, he's just too good. Other than when we turned the ball over, I thought we executed, we kept the game at the pace that we wanted.

What did you do in the second half after they made that runââ'¬Â¦
We just said okay they made their run. The big thing was trying to score somehow so they weren't facing an unsettled situation.

On Trey Freemanââ'¬Â¦
I think he was just relentless. They did-for a team that supposedly doesn't focus on defense too much- they did about as good a job defending Trey Freeman as anybody all year long. The way the bigs jumped out on the screens. But I thought Trey stayed with it and was able to- you know he never got really any clean looks-the one turnaround on the baseline. I thought that was kind of critical for him. I think that probably surprised them that we were posting up around point guard. I thought that got him going a little bit.

OAKLAND

Head Coach Greg Kampe
On the defense ODU played on Kay Felderââ'¬Â¦
I don't want to sound, I don't want to take anything away from them. Because, they won it. They played great. They deserve it. They had a great tournament. But when that happened, he had 30 at Virginia. You're not going to play a better defensive team than that. What they did do is slow the tempo down and we were completely out of sink in the first half. You know we were jogging. We weren't making hard cuts. There was no flow for us offensively. When you shoot 24% which we don't do very often. I mean that's what happens. I was very pleased with the way we got out of it and the way we played in the second half. Freeman had a heck of a game. He hit a lot of tough shots.
