ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Oakland men's basketball team returns home to the Blacktop at the O'rena on Tuesday to face Horizon League newcomer Northern Kentucky starting at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast on TV20, ESPN3 and also can be heard on WDFN 1130 AM with Neal Ruhl and Cortney Scott on the call.
PROMOTIONS
It is Glow Night in the O'rena as all fans will receive glow sticks and are encouraged to wear their brightest neon colors, while the first 200 students in the door will receive free sunglasses.
LAST TIME OUT
The Golden Grizzlies are coming off a hard fought 86-82 win at Detroit on Saturday to earn two points in the Metro Series. Kay Felder recorded 22 points and nine assists and Jalen Hayes tallied a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Percy Gibson added 17 points and Sherron Dorsey-Walker hit a pair of free throws at the end of the game to seal the win.
INSIDE THE MATCH-UP
Northern Kentucky is the newest member of the Horizon League after joining the conference in the summer of 2015. The Norse enter the game with a 1-4 league record with its lone conference win coming against Youngstown State at home. NKU is led by Jalen Billups with 13.0 points and 5.4 rebounds per game, while shooting 62.5 percent from the floor in #HLMBB play. This will be the team's first time visiting the O'rena. Oakland played its final Division II game against Northern Kentucky on March 8, 1997 during the NCAA Tournament.
SPECIAL KAY
Junior Kay Felder is cementing himself as one of the best players in the NCAA. He was selected to the John R. Wooden Award Midseason Top 25. Felder is looking to become the first player in NCAA history to lead the country in points and assists per game as he tops the country with 8.7 assists and ranks fourth in scoring at 25.6. He has totaled eight games of 20-plus points and 10-plus assists. He is a three-time Lou Henson Award National Player of the Week selection, a four-time #HLMBB Player of the Week and also an Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week selection. ESPN's Dick Vitale named Felder to his Midseason All-Rolls Royce Team and his national player of the week after scoring 37 points and nine assists against No. 1 Michigan State on Dec. 22. He also was named to NBCSports.com's Midseason All-American Third Team and Sports Illustrated's Midseason mid-Major Player of the Year. He was named the Horizon League Preseason Player of the Year and to the Lute Olson Award Preseason Watch List, given to the nation's top player who has played at least two seasons. Felder surpassed 1,000 points earlier this season and currently ranks 22nd in school history, recently passing Georgia Tech head coach Brian Gregory, . He also cracked the top-10 on the Horizon League's all-time assist list and is tied for fifth in #HLMBB history.

The Oakland men's basketball team is ranked in the top-30 in the country in several categories:
- Seventh in free throws made - 350, eighth in scoring - 85.7, 21st in free throw percentage - 74.9, 30th in defensive rebounds - 28.6, 30th in rebounds - 41.2

HORIZON LEAGUE YEAR THREE
Oakland improved to 11-5 in its second season inside the Horizon League and are 21-16 (.568) in its third seasons of regular season play. The Golden Grizzlies' record versus the league since joining in 2014, including HL tournament; Cleveland State (2-3), Detroit (4-1), Green Bay (1-3), Milwaukee (1-3), UIC (5-1), Valparaiso (2-3), Wright State (2-3) and Youngstown State (5-1).
PRESEASON RANKINGS
After finishing their second season in the Horizon League with a 11-5 league record and a third-place finish in the standings, the Golden Grizzlies were selected second in this season's Horizon League Preseason Poll. Oakland was also selected No. 14 in the CollegeInsider.com Preseason Mid-Major Top 25 Poll.

Greg Kampe has been at Oakland for over three decades and coached the 12th-most games among active Division I coaches. His 32-year tenure at one school is third, behind Syracuse's Jim Boeheim (40 seasons) and Duke's Mike Krzyzewski (36 seasons). The Defiance, Ohio native has 545 wins, 19th among active D1 coaches.
SOPHOMORE SENSATION
Redshirt Sophomore Jalen Hayes continues to impress for the Golden Grizzlies after being selected to the Horizon League All-Freshman Team last season and being named #HLMBB Freshman of the Week seven times. He has recorded seven double-doubles in the last nine games, scored a season-high 23 points at Georgia and grabbed a career-best 17 rebounds at Washington.
NEW FACES MAKING AN IMPACT
The newest members of the Golden Grizzlies have already made a significant impact on the season. Three of Oakland's top-six scorers did not play for the Golden Grizzlies last season. Percy Gibson (12.3) and Sherron Dorsey-Walker (9.5) transferred from Iowa State, while Martez Walker (7.9) transferred in January from Texas and played his 1st game at Washington. Dorsey-Walker and Walker were high school teammates with Felder at Pershing High School and Gibson also played in Detroit's historic PSL.
