HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - Morgan Smith earned a second-place finish and Elle Nichols garnered All-Tournament Team honors, while Alyssa Albright carded a final round 74 to lead the Oakland women's golf team to a runner-up finish with a final score of 937 (+73) on the final day of the Horizon League Championship on Sunday from Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort (par 72, 6,012 yards).
"It's great to have another runner-up finish this year, but with some stronger finishes we would have been able to save the shots needed to win," said head coach Alyssa Gaudio. "We have a lot to work on this summer and prepare for the Fall season. With such a young team I am excited to see what we will do in the years to come"
Smith finished the tournament with a final score of 225, the third-best score at a conference championship in program history and her runner-up performance is the best individual finish in school history. She ended the tournament one stroke behind medalist Emily Dixon from Youngstown State.

The Golden Grizzlies earned their second-straight runner-up place at the Horizon League Championship, trailing team champion Youngstown State by 11 strokes. Oakland posted a final round 319, after posting scores of 308 and 310 in the first two rounds.
