YSU National Invite Final Results

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Bryce Stroede won the 3000m with a time of 8:22.71 a day after helping set a new men's distance medley relay school record at the YSU National Invitational held at the Watson and Tressel Training Site (WATTS). Aaron Davis won his third 200m event this season with a time of 21.27 and finished fourth in the 60m dash at 7.01. Gino Vitella also won his second shot put event with a throw of 54 feet, 6.75 inches. The Men's team finished with a 10-4 dual record while the women posted a 9-8 mark.

"Today wrapped up a great weekend for our teams. In total, we had nearly 20 personal records this weekend," said head coach Paul Rice. "When you factor in the individual event wins, we really showed up in this meet. This is what you hope for at this point in the season. We want to build confidence and see that our workouts are working. We have one more meet to really prep us for the Horizon League Championships. If the trend continues, I think the end of February could prove to be very exciting for both squads."

The men's team also got second place performances from Nicholas Girodat who finished behind Davis with a time of 21.98 and Austin Dawn in the 500m with a mark of 1:06.52. The 4x400 relay team of Derrek Williams, Tré Brown, Geoffrey Williston and Chris Scott took second running a 3:21.76. Andrew Bowman's time of 8:30.31 was good for a third place finish two sports behind Stroede.

Serena San Cartier paced the women's team finishing second in the 60m hurdles while Candice Mack and Karli Keur each finished third in the 200m and the 800m respectively with times of 25.36 and 2:17.61. In the 3000m run, Miranda Haas and Sammy Mondry placed third and fourth with times of 10:05.59 and 10:06.53.

Both teams head to Allendale, Mich. for the GVSU Big Meet held Feb. 13-14.
