ROCHESTER, Mich. - Men's basketball player Kahlil Felder has been named the Oakland Student-Athlete of the Week, for the week of Feb. 9-16, after leading the Golden Grizzlies over the University of Detroit Mercy and claiming the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame Cup.
Felder, a sophomore from Detroit, Mich., scored 29 points in front of a record-setting crowd of 4,101 in the Athletics Center O'rena. He shot 9-of-16 from the floor including going a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line in the win over UDM. In the final three minutes of the game, Felder would score seven points with three clutch free throws.
With the 83-78 win, Oakland won the first-ever Michigan Sports Hall of Fame Cup, given to the winner of the basketball series between Oakland and UDM as the Golden Grizzlies held a higher RPI, and two valuable points in the inaugural Metro series.
Oakland returns to the court on Wednesday as they travel to Wright State on Feb. 18 beginning at 7 p.m. from the Nutter Center.
