Dec. 4, 2015 ROCHESTER, Mich. ââ'¬" Oakland University Athletics has added longtime
Detroit News columnist and
97.1 The Ticket (WXYT-FM) personality Terry Foster to its staff, announced Senior Assistant Athletic Director
Scott MacDonald on Friday. Foster will give a behind-the-scenes look at Oakland basketball, telling the story within the game.
"We are extremely excited about adding Terry's expertise to our men's basketball coverage," said MacDonald. "Terry does a tremendous job on the radio and his writing skills and creativity will bring a different angle for our fans to read about on GoldenGrizzlies.com."
Foster is co-host of the Valenti and Foster show on 97.1 The Ticket from 2-6 p.m., Monday through Friday. He has been a sports columnist at The Detroit News since 1988 and will seek early retirement on Dec. 27. He also wrote for the Detroit Free Press (1982-88) and began his sports writing career at the Grand Rapids Press (1981).
"I love college athletics and I love good stories," said Foster. "I am glad Oakland University is giving me a chance to dig deeper into its rich basketball program and write about some of the great athletes and coaches. I have always enjoyed my trips to the O'rena when covering basketball for The Detroit News. Now I really get to see if coach Greg Kampe has mellowed."
