ROCHESTER, Mich. - Brailen Neely and Chris Palombizio each signed a National Letter of Intent, announced Oakland head coach Greg Kampe on Thursday. The Golden Grizzlies signed a dynamic point guard and an offensive-minded wing.
Neely, a 5-foot-8 guard from Detroit Western International, led the Cowboys to their first PSL title since 1922 and its first-ever state championship during his junior year. He led the team with 15.1 points and added 4.5 assists per game en route to a perfect 26-0 season. He was named to the Detroit Free Press All-Metro Third Team and the MLive.com Detroit Dream Team Second Team.
Palombizio, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard from Chesterfield, Ind., was named to the 2015 IBCA/Subway Senior All-State Supreme 15, given to the top players in the state of Indiana regardless of school size. He averaged 23 points and 8.3 rebounds per game en route to being named Duneland Conference Most Valuable Player last season. Palombizio comes from a strong basketball family as his father, Dan, was named Mr. Basketball in Indiana in 1981 and was inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame in 2013. After graduating from Chesterton High School, he played last season at Don Bosco, a fifth-year prep school in Merriville, Ind.
