NORMAL, Ill. - Elle Nichols and Alyssa Albright each shot 76 to lead the Oakland women's golf team to an 11th-place finish (950/+86) on Monday at D.A. Weibring Golf Club. The Golden Grizzlies shot their best 18-hole score on the final day at 313.

"This weekend showed a glimpse of the potential that this team has," said head coach Russ Cunningham. "We lacked consistency due to silly mistakes and first tournament jitters, however we improved each round and started to play at a level we know we're capable of. Elle did a great job of staying focused which helped her make this a memorable first collegiate event."

Nichols finished in a tie for sixth place with an overall score of 227 (+11) to record the only top-10 finish for the Golden Grizzlies. Albright ended the tournament in a tie for 50th place with a score of 239 (+23).

Illinois State's Brianna Cooper captured medalist honors by shooting 72 in her final 18 holes, posting a score of 2-over-par 218. She helped lead the Redbirds to the team title as well with an overall score of 910 (+46), 12 shots ahead of Northern Illinois.

The Golden Grizzlies will travel to East Lansing, Mich. for the 31st annual Mary Fossum Invitational on Forest Akers West Golf Course, Sept. 13-14.
