EAST LANSING, Mich. - Danielle Crilley shot a final round 76 to lead the Oakland women's golf team to a 12th-place finish (958/+94) on Sunday at Forest Akers West Golf Club.
"Some really tricky pin placements today which required you to think from the tee, on the approach shots and especially when putting," said head coach Russ Cunningham. "As a team we took a step backwards but this should help challenge everyone to work twice as hard in preparing for the next opportunity. Great final round by Danielle, she beat a lot of good players today."
Crilley's final round was the best round for Oakland in the tournament and moved her into a tie for 35th place with a 238 (+22). Alyssa Albright also finished T35 with an 8-over-par final round. Elle Nichols carded a 239 (+23) after an 83 in the last 18 holes.
Florida International's Meghan MacLaren earned medalist honors by shooting a 2-over-par 74 in the final round, posting a 221 (+5). Notre Dame captured the team title with an overall score of 913 (+49), four strokes in front of host Michigan State and six shots ahead of Toledo.
The Golden Grizzlies will be on the course in two weeks when they host the Golden Grizzles Invitational Sept. 27-28 at Katke-Cousins Golf Course.
