NABC Honors Court Team
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Oakland's Corey Petros was named to the NABC Honors Court, announced by the National Association of Basketball Coaches. Petros, a native of Macomb, Mich., graduated with a degree in business administration and is currently enrolled in the MBA program.
"Academics is extremely important to me and I take great pride working hard on and off the court," said Petros.
The NABC recognizes the talents and gifts that these men possess off the court and the hard work they exhibit in the classroom. In order to be selected to the NABC Honors Court, a student-athlete must be a junior or senior academically, post a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher, and must have played at least one season for their institution.
Petros had a strong junior season for the Golden Grizzlies. The 6-foot-10 center led the Horizon League with 8.2 rebounds per game and nine double-doubles. Petros scored 13.3 points per game and garnered All-Horizon League second team accolades. His 20 career double-doubles ranks fifth in program history, and he stands fourth in all-time offensive rebounds (301) and defensive rebounds (500).
A total of seven men's basketball players from the Horizon League were named to the NABC Honors Court. Joining Petros were Valparaiso's Bobby Capobianco, David Chadwick and Vashil Fernandez, Wright State's Kendall Griffin, Youngstown State's Kendrick Perry and Mike Podolsky,
