ROCHESTER, Mich. - Oakland softball had its most successful season in three years, ending with a 16-23 record, more than doubling the seven total wins from 2013 and vastly improving the 10 total wins in 2012. In their first season in the Horizon League, the Golden Grizzlies compiled a 5-9 record after numerous postponed and cancelled games.
At season's inception, Oakland's schedule included 52 contests with 21 conference games but the team was only able to play 39 total games, 14 in league play due to numerous counts of inclement weather and unplayable field conditions.
2014 Highlights
» Oakland ended the season 16-23, 5-9 (7th place) in the Horizon League
» Erika Polidori placed herself in the top rankings of numerous categories of Oakland's record books

» Polidori led the team this season in runs (27), hits (41), doubles (12), home runs (5), RBI (22), slugging percentage (.553), on base percentage (.446) and stolen bases (15)
» She also ranked 40th in the NCAA in doubles per game
» Jackie Kisman led the team in batting average by hitting .345
» Morgan Muron recorded her lone home run of the season when Oakland faced No. 1 Tennessee (Feb. 9)
» Muron finished the 2014 campaign ranked 18th in the nation in triples per game
» During Oakland's spring trip, the team posted a seven-game win streak and was 8-1 while in Florida
» The Golden Grizzlies posted series victories over conference opponents Youngstown State (2-1) and Cleveland State (1-0)
» Kaley Waalkes finished the season ranked seventh in the league in wins with 8
» Erin Kownacki recorded 103 strikeouts in 22 appearances and 122.1 innings pitched, ranking her fourth in the league
» Both Kownacki and Waalkes finished in the top eight in the Horizon League in ERA
