KENT STATE DOWNS OAKLAND IN MIDWEEK DOUBLEHEADER

April 1, 2014

Game 1 Box Score | Game 2 Box Score

KENT, Ohio - Jared Theisen drove in three runs in game one, while Tyler Pagano went 2-for-2 and scored a run in game two as the Oakland baseball team (4-13) lost both games of a doubleheader to Kent State (16-10) with scores of 16-5 and 16-1 Tuesday afternoon at Schoonover Stadium.

"I am not happy with our performance today, particularly on the mound," said coach John Musachio. "We have a lot of young guys throwing midweek and many of them pitched scared. We will look to come out with a much better performance tomorrow at Michigan State."

In game one, Oakland would get on the board in the top of the first inning as Trent Drumheller would score on a ground ball to shortstop off the bat of Robby Enslen. Kent State would answer with an eight run bottom half of the inning as Alex Miklos hit a two-run home run and Jon Wilson hit a triple to score three runs.

OU cut the lead to 8-3 in the fourth inning as Theisen singled up the middle to score Enslen and Ian Yetsko. KSU responded with another big inning in the bottom half scoring five runs led by a three-run home run by Cody Koch to make the score 13-3.

In the nightcap, the Golden Flashes came out swinging scoring 12 runs in the first three innings. Jeff Revesz hit a grand slam in the bottom of the first inning followed by a Miklos grand slam in the third inning.

The Golden Grizzlies scored its only run of the game in the third inning as Pagano was able to score from second base on an error by the KSU second baseman.

Oakland will be back on the field on Wednesday as they face in-state rival Michigan State at Kobs Field in East Lansing beginning at 3:05 p.m.
