Day One Results
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The Oakland men finished first and second in the distance medley relay with times of 10:04.33 and 10:16.94 and the women won the same relay as well with a time of 12:06.60 at the first day of competition in the YSU Invitational. Both winning relay teams narrowly missed the setting of school records with these performances.
"We had a great start today," assured head coach Paul Rice. "This is a nice competitive meet and I think we are ready for more great performances this weekend. We had an exciting night winning both DMRs (distance medley relays) in dominating fashion and seeing some great splits coming out of those relays."
The women's weight throwers had great performances on the day as well and gained some ground in the Horizon League rankings when Shannon Getchen threw for 50' 4" for a sixth place finish and Ashley Jemison recorded a throw of 41' 1.75" good for ninth place.
OU concludes competition at the YSU Incvitational on Saturday, Feb. 8 beginning at 10 a.m.
