STILLWATER, Okla. - Robby Enslen had a base hit and drove in a run but the Oakland baseball team (1-3) dropped the series finale to Oklahoma State (8-1), 11-1, Sunday afternoon at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium.
"We dug ourselves a hole early in the game today with sloppy play in all areas," said coach John Musachio. "On the bright side, we played well three of the four games this series. We have plenty of positives to take from this past weekend."
The Cowboys jumped out with nine runs in the first two innings led by Garrett Williams with a two-RBI single in the first inning and Zach Fish drove in two runs with a single to left field in the second inning. OU would come back with a run in the top of the third as Enslen drove in Tyler Janish after he hit a two-out double.
OSU added two runs in the fourth inning on a Williams sacrifice fly and a Craig McConaughy RBI-single to left-center field.
The Golden Grizzlies used six pitchers over the final 4.0 innings and gave up no runs on only two hits. Chris Van Dyke (0-1) suffered the loss throwing 1.1 innings, giving up nine runs, but only four earned. Left-handed pitcher Michael Freeman earned the win for Oklahoma State throwing 4.0 innings in relief, giving up two hits and striking out seven batters.
Oakland will be in action next weekend as they travel to New Mexico State from Feb. 28-March 2 for a four-game series at Presley Askew Baseball Field.
