ROCHESTER, Mich. -​ Junior setter Ciara Schultz became Oakland volleyball's single-season assists leader at the Division I level earlier this season, as her current total of 1,143 assists surpassed the previous best set during the 2000 and 2009 seasons.
"I am very proud of Ciara and her accomplishment in setting the single-season record for assists in a season," Oakland head coach Rob Beam said. "It is a credit to her individual skill and the job she has done directing our offense. She has been a key element in our team's success this year."
For her career, Schultz is fourth in Oakland records with 2,345 assists. The Oakland record for career assists at the Division I level is 3,538 set by Becca Moller.
Oakland (20-9) is the top seed in the 2014 Horizon League Volleyball Championship and will host the event Nov. 21-23. The Golden Grizzlies are slated to play Saturday, Nov. 22 at 2:30 p.m. with their opponent to be determined after first round action Friday.
