OU's Bowser Tees off at 113th U.S. Amateur Championship

Aug. 12, 2013

ROCHESTER, Mich. - Oakland's Evan Bowser qualified for his second straight United States Amateur Golf Championship and will tee off on Monday, Aug. 12th, at 12:15 p.m. ET on Charles River Country Club (Par 70, 6,574 yards) in Brookline, Mass. Bowser advanced to match play last year after shooting 2-over-par (76-67) in stroke play.

The 113th U.S. Amateur tees will be played at Charles River CC and The Country Club (Par 70, 7,310 yards). Bowser is the first Oakland golfer to compete in the U.S. Amateur in consecutive years.

A native of Dearborn, Mich., Bowser is coming off the most successful freshman season in program history. He earned All-Summit League second team honors and finished fourth in the league with a scoring average of 73.45, seventh-best in school history. Bowser became the first freshman to win a pair of tournaments in his rookie season and tied the school record with a low round of 65 in the final round of the UD Fall Invitational.
