USTFCCCA All-Academic Honor List
NEW ORLEANS - Oakland's Brittni Hutton earned United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Asoociation (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Honors for her combined efforts in competition and in the classroom, as announced by the USTFCCCA on Wednesday.
"This is the final award for Brittni in an illustrious career," said head coach Paul Rice. "An academic honor is the perfect way to end her career. Her academic success was always the highest priority for her and this award is a testament to her overall dedication to Oakland University. We will miss her, but I know that she has helped lay the groundwork for a great future for our program."
Hutton, a communications major, finished her career in the classroom with a 3.42 grade-point average and was also the president of Student Video Productions on campus. On the track she qualified for the NCAA Track and Field East Preliminary Meet in May after posting a school-record time of 34:56.38 in the 10,000m run where she finished 43rd overall. At the outdoor league meet, Hutton earned two bronze medals in the 5,000m run and the 3,000m steeplechase. The Summit League Indoor Track and Field Championship saw her finish third in both the 3,000m and the 5,000m run. This season, Hutton broke four school records including three during the outdoor season.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade-point average of 3.25 and have met either of the following athletic standards: for the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org; for the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).
