ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Oakland women's golf team will tee it up for the last time this fall at the Rocket Classic in Port Clinton, Ohio at Catawba Island Club. Toledo will host the 54-hole tournament that will tee off on Monday morning with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
After posting season-best scores of 301 and 305 at the Redbird Invitational (Sept. 8-9) to start the season, the Golden Grizzlies have not broken 320 over their last six rounds. OU continues to be lead by freshman Julia Montgomery with a stroke average of 78.38. Six of her eight rounds this season have been in the 70s.
Senior Donna Fiscelli and junior Brandi Studer will both be making their season debuts after tallying scoring averages of 83.18 and 81.69, respectively, last season. Freshman Danielle Crilley makes her collegiate debut for the Grizzlies on Monday. She qualified for the 2012 United States Girls Junior Amateur Championship.
This week's tournament includes four Horizon League schools; Cleveland State, defending league champion Detroit, OU and Youngstown State. The Golden Grizzlies are 2-0 versus league opponents this season, defeating CSU and Valpo last weekend at The Preview.
