Box Score

FARGO, N.D. - Kyle Boboltshad a pair of hits to lead Oakland (21-28, 12-5) in a 3-2 loss to North Dakota State (37-15, 13-7) in the Summit League series finale on Sunday at Newman Outdoor Field. The Golden Grizzlies split the series with the Bison.

"Today was a well-played game between both teams," said Oakland head coach John Musachio. "I give a lot of credit to their starter Zach Wentz who did a good job of keeping our batters off balance today."

The Golden Grizzlies outhit NDSU 8-3 in the game, but trailed 3-2 heading into the final inning. John Estesmanaged to draw a one-out walk in the ninth, but was left stranded at first. OU left seven runners stranded in the game.

A two-run home run by Zach Wentz gave the Bison the lead in the second inning. Oakland responded with a run in the bottom of the fifth when Trent Drumhellersingled to drive in Estes to make it 2-1. NDSU had an almost immediate reply as a leadoff double by Kyle Kleinendorst eventually led to a run on squeeze play.

OU mounted another rally in the eighth when Tim Ryan scored on an RBI-single by Aaron Cieslak. That left runners on the corners for OU, but reliever Jake Heck came in and induced an inning-ending double play. Heck (1) pitched 1.2 scoreless innings to earn the save for the Bison.

Oakland starter Brady Adamek (2-5) allowed just two hits and had four strikeouts over five innings of work, but took the loss. Oakland relievers Greg Welke, Jake Paulson and Bryan Jagielocombined for three innings of scoreless relief. Wentz (2-4) also picked up the win for NDSU, as he scattered eight hits over 7.1 innings.

"Brady Adamek gave us a quality start for his second consecutive outing," added Musachio.

The Golden Grizzlies return home for a four-game series with Southern Utah to end the regular season. The series will open on Thursday at the OU Baseball Field at 3 p.m.
