Oakland Volleyball Earns No. 3 Seed in Summit League Championship

ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Oakland volleyball team (16-12, 9-7 Summit) finished the regular season in a tie for third place and earned the No. 3 seed in The Summit League Championship starting Nov. 16 in Fargo, N.D. The Golden Grizzlies will square off against No. 2 seed Fort Wayne on Friday in the semifinals starting at 6 p.m. ET at Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse.

Oakland claimed the No. 3 seed by virtue of sweeping Fort Wayne during the regular season while No. 4 seed Kansas City (17-12, 9-7 Summit) was swept by the Mastodons. This marks the second consecutive season that the Golden Grizzlies have clinched a berth in The Summit League Championship after making their first trip last season. This is also the highest seed OU has earned in the postseason tournament in school history. IUPUI earned the top seed in the tournament by finishing the season 21-9 and 13-3 in the league and will face the Kangaroos at 8:30 p.m. ET. The championship match will take place on Nov. 17 at 8 p.m. ET.

OU earned a spot in the Summit League Championship by defeating Western Illinois on Saturday with a 3-1 win in Macomb, Ill. Meghan Bray finished the match with 21 kills and 19 digs while Alli Kirk recorded 19 digs in the match. The Golden Grizzlies are 2-0 against Fort Wayne this season, earning a five-set victory at home on Sept. 14 and a 3-1 win on Oct. 12 on the road.
