ELMHURST, Ill. - Oakland's Lia Jones was named The Summit League's Indoor Track and Field Women's Athlete of the Week for her performance at the Mike Lints Alumni Open in Allendale, Mich., as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Jones collects her second career Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week award and first of the season after winning the 5,000-meter run last Friday. The junior posted a league-best time of 17:09.88, which ranks third in the nation.
Oakland will be on the track next weekend as they will travel to Fort Wayne, Ind. on Saturday as they will compete in the IPFW Quadrangular Meet starting at noon.
