ROCHESTER, Mich. - Oakland basketball play-by-play radio broadcaster Mario Impemba was named Michigan Sportscaster of the Year, announced by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association (NSSA) on Tuesday. Impemba is in his sixth season calling games for the Golden Grizzlies.

Along with his duties with OU, Impemba has served as the play-by-play announcer for the Detroit Tigers on Fox Sports Detroit for the past 10 years. He is among 103 state sportscasters and sportswriters to be honored durign the NSSA's 53rd Annual Awards banquet at the organization's headquarters in Salisbury, N.C.

Mark Snyder of the Detroit Free Press is the recipient of the Michigan Sportswriter of the Year award.
