Brittany Holbrook led the volleyball team to a 2-1 record in the opening weekend by averaging close to 13 kills per game and was named all-tournament to earn Oakland Student-Athlete of the Week honors.

Holbrook, a native of Westland, Mich., blocked 4.0 shots per game to go along with her 38 kills for the weekend. She had the game-winning kill in a five-set thriller against Niagara in the season opener.

Holbrook added 14 kills in the only loss of the weekend against tournament host Toledo. She hit .372 for the weekend to pace the Golden Grizzlies' attack.
