ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Oakland University men's and women's track teams will head south to Ann Arbor, Mich., Friday-Saturday, May 6-7 to compete at the Len Paddock Invitational. The meet is scheduled to run all day on both days.
"This should be an interesting weekend," said head coach Paul Rice. "This is our last meet before the conference championships. It's a final opportunity for some of our athletes to make a case for making the travel squad. This is always a tough meet and I expect us to compete at a high level."
For the men, the Golden Grizzlies have 24 marks among the top 20 in The Summit League. Zack Jones has the third fastest 10,000 at 30:01.49. His time also ranks him 42nd in the East Region, with the top 48 times advancing to the NCAA Preliminary Round. Jones also has the third fastest 5000 at 14:38.19.
For the women, Oakland has 27 marks among the top 20 in the league. Lia Jones has the fastest 5000 in the league with her school record time of 16:29.34. Her time ranks her 44th in the East Region, with the top 48 times advancing to the NCAA Preliminary Round.
Micah Jones is ranked second in the triple jump (38 feet, 2.75 inches) and third in the high jump (five feet, six inches). Kelsey Carmean has the fifth fastest 5000 at 17:22.65.
