Coach's Preview
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Oakland University women's tennis team (3-6, 2-1) will head to Kansas City, Mo. to play in the second Summit League Tennis cluster of the season. The Golden Grizzlies will complete league play for the year by palying five matches in three days.
Currently third in the league standings, Oakland will face second place Southern Utah (10-2, 3-1) at 10 a.m. ET on Thursday. Immediately following the match with the Thunderbirds, the Golden Grizzlies will take on South Dakota State (2-7, 0-0) in a match slated to start around 3 p.m. ET.
On Friday OU will play a single match against Western Illinois (1-10, 0-0) at 3 p.m. ET. The Grizzlies will finish play on Saturday with a pair of matches against Oral Roberts (1-5, 0-0) at 10 a.m. before taking on hosts UMKC (5-12, 2-2) at 3 p.m. ET.
The Golden Grizzlies will need to finish in the top four of the league standings to qualify for The Summit League Tournament, hosted at IPFW on April 22-23. Oakland last qualified for the tournament in 2000 before the field was reduced to the top four teams in league.
