ROCHESTER, Mich. - Travis Bader scored a career-high 28 points and made a career-best eight 3-pointers to lead Oakland (5-2, 1-0) to a 101-83 Summit League victory over newcomer South Dakota (2-4, 0-1) on Thursday at the Athletics Center O'rena. The Golden Grizzlies have won five straight games and are 42-2 in their last 44 league games.
"All league wins are good and the streak is now 30, which is the second best streak in conference history," said OU coach Greg Kampe. "I was pleased on the way we came out after all the emotion and excitement we had on Monday night."
Reggie Hamilton dished out a season-high nine assists to go with 16 points. Drew Valentine added 18 points and nine rebounds, while Corey Petros recorded his second double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Louie Krogman finished with 26 points to lead three Coyotes in double figures. Trevor Gruis and and Charlie Westbrook posted 20 and 19 points, respectively.
The Golden Grizzlies wasted little time as Bader drained three 3-pointers in the first minute-and-a-half as OU took an 18-4 lead four minutes in to the game. The lead grew all the way to 26 points with 5:12 left in the game to cruise to an 18-point win.
It was the second consecutive game that Oakland has led wire-to-wire. The Golden Grizzlies are now 5-0 when leading at the half, taking a 54-37 lead at the break tonight.
The Golden Grizzlies will host UMKC (4-4, 1-0) on Saturday at 6 p.m. in a Summit League match-up. Tickets are still available on OUgrizzlies.com.
