Oakland Heads to the Dakotas

ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Oakland University volleyball team (8-8, 3-2 Summit) is back on the road for a pair of Summit League games, Oct. 1-2. The Golden Grizzlies will play South Dakota State on the 1st and North Dakota State on the 2nd. Both games are scheduled to start at 8 p.m.

Oakland has been on a tear as of late, winning five of its last seven matches. Last weekend, the Golden Grizzlies swept UMKC and lost in five to Southern Utah.

Sophomore Meghan Bray, who had 37 kills over eight sets last weekend, now ranks second in The Summit League with 3.56 kills per set. Senior Brittany Dunn is third in digs with 4.42 per set and has recorded double-digits in all but one of her 16 matches played this season.

Oakland continues to lead the league in hitting percentage defense, allowing opponents to hit just .152. The Golden Grizzlies rank third in digs (16.05 per set) and service aces (1.60 per set).

SOUTH DAKOTA STATE (6-7, 2-3 Summit)

South Dakota State leads the series 4-2 with Oakland winning the last two encounters. The Jackrabbits are led by Kelli Fiegen and Ellyce Youngren. Fiegen is averaging 2.71 kills and 1.44 blocks per set while leading the team in hitting at .339. Youngren leads the team with 3.19 kills per set.

NORTH DAKOTA STATE (8-6, 5-0 Summit)

North Dakota State leads the series 7-0. The Bison, who have won 42 straight conference matches, are led by Brynn Joki and Chrissy Knuth. Joki is averaging 2.65 kills and 0.61 service aces per set while Knuth has 2.24 kills and 0.84 blocks per set.
