TULSA, Okla. - Sophomore Aaron Cieslak went 2-for-3 and drove in two runs, sophomore Connor Mielock went 3-for-4 while juniors Tommy Jablonski and Dan Gliot had two hits each as the Oakland University baseball team (23-34) lost 20-6 to South Dakota State (39-20) at The Summit League Tournament Friday evening at J.L. Johnson Stadium.
South Dakota State attempted to jump out to an early lead by loading the bases with one out. Oakland got a pop up and a fly out to end the threat. In the bottom of the first inning, junior Ryan Waldhart singled to right-center field and moved to third on a single through the right side by Jablonski.
Cieslak crushed a double off the left field fence to score Waldhart and Jablonski. The Jackrabbits got a solo shot from Zach Rhodes in the second inning. SDSU would score two more runs to take the lead at 3-2. In the fourth inning, South Dakota State scored five runs to push the lead to 8-2.
In the fourth, sophomore John Estes doubled down the right field line. Mielock then doubled to left field to score Estes. SDSU scored twice in the sixth to take a 12-3 lead.
In the seventh, Mielock and Gliot singled for the Golden Grizzlies. A fielder's choice hit by freshman Todd Dunham was misplayed allowing Mielock to score.
Sophomore Tim Ryan singled down the left field line to score Gliot. Jablonski rifled the ball past the first baseman to score Dunham, making it 12-6. SDSU would score eight in the eighth to seal the game.
