ROCHESTER, Mich. - Sophomore Aaron Cieslak went 1-for-2 with a two run home run as the Oakland University baseball team (0-5 Summit, 5-21) fell 13-2 to South Dakota State (5-0 Summit, 19-9) Friday afternoon at the OU Baseball Field.
In the first inning, sophomore John Estes drew a walk and moved to second on a ground out. Cieslak sent the ball over the center field fence to make it 2-0. South Dakota State had a two run shot in the second to tie the game. In the third inning, the Jackrabbits scored six runs to seal the game.
Cieslak and freshman Mike Carson each had a hit for the Golden Grizzlies. Connor Mielock (1-4) gave up 13 hits, eight runs, all of them earned, walked three batters and struck out four in five and 1/3rd innings.
For South Dakota State, Eric Cain was 3-for-5, scored three runs, drove in five runs and had two home runs while John Lee and Billy Stitz had two hits each. Sam Pieczynski (4-1) gave up two hits, two runs, walked three batters and struck out seven in seven innings of work.
Oakland remains at home, Saturday, Apr. 17, taking on South Dakota State. The doubleheader is scheduled to start at noon.
