CONWAY, S.C. - Sophomore Leah DiCristofaro had a solo home run as the Oakland University softball team (8-15) beat Houston Baptist (5-13) 2-1 on the first day of the CCU Softball Classic.
In game 1, Houston Baptist used two hits to score a run in the top of the first for a 1-0 lead.
In the second inning, DiCristofaro crushed a 0-2 pitch to dead center field to tie the game at 1-1. Freshman Erin Galloway doubled to left center field and moved to third on a single by freshman Alivia Nikolaus. Senior Anne Cicchini hit a grounder that was misplayed allowing Galloway to score.
In the seventh inning, the Huskies put two on with two outs. Sophomore Brittany Doyle got Mac Christenson to ground out to end the game.
Doyle (5-8) gave up six hits, one run which was earned, walked six and struck out six batters in going the distance.
Oakland will take on Buffalo at 4:00 p.m.
