WARREN, Mich. - Brittni Hutton and Micah Jones won two events each for the Oakland University men's and women's track & field team at the Macomb Opener Saturday afternoon.
"This was a nice meet for us going into the break," said head coach Paul Rice. "It was a fun relaxed environment for the athletes to compete in close to home. Overall we saw some great efforts today. I am very impressed with the way our field event athletes competed as well as our sprinters and hurdlers. The athletes and coaches are looking forward to the Christmas break and I know everyone will work hard to come back in January ready to go."
For the men, the Golden Grizzlies set two school records. Andrew Stebbins has a toss of 49 feet, 3/4th of an inch to win the shot put. He broke the school record of 48-11 set in 2009 by Anthony Halfmann. Halfmann would win the 35-LB weight with a school record toss of 52 feet 2.50 inches. Micah Jones won two events for the second straight week as she took the high jump (five feet, six inches) and long jump (17 feet, eight inches).
