ROCHESTER, Mich. - Senior Will Hudson scored 17 points and senior Keith Benson posted a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds in just 18 minutes as the Oakland University men's basketball team ran past Marygrove, 112-55, in an exhibition game on Tuesday night inside the Athletics Center O'Rena.

"It's good to be playing basketball again," said OU coach Greg Kampe who begins his 27th season at the helm. "It's good to be playing against somebody who's not your own teammate. It was a night where we wanted to get a lot of people in and we were able to do that. We'd already had a scrimmage against a school, and so now we wanted something that we could get up and down the floor and have some fun with. On Friday we go into the lion's den so we'll see what happens."

A total of six OU players reached double figures in the game. Senior Larry Wright finished the contest with 16 points and seven assists in his first game at the point guard position. After redshirting last season due to a transfer from UMKC, junior Reggie Hamilton scored 16 points and went 8-for-10 from the free throw line.

Sophomore Drew Valentine connected on 3-of-4 3-pointers and finished with 11 points, while redshirt freshman Travis Bader ended the game with 12 points, going 2-for-7 from beyond the arc.

The Golden Grizzlies started slow but used an 18-4 run over a six-minute span midway through the first half to extend their lead to 46-24 and never looked back against the Mustangs. OU would take a commanding 29-point lead at the half, 58-29, and outscored the smaller Marygrove team 42-12 in the paint for the game.

Oakland did not allow a Marygrove player to reach double figures and held the Mustangs to 31 percent from the floor for the game (18-58) and the Grizzlies held a 54-26 edge on the glass. Brandon Carlson led Marygrove with seven points in the game.

OU will begin the regular season on Friday, Nov. 12, in Morgantown against West Virginia. Game time is set for 9 p.m. and can be watched on ESPN3.com. The game will also air on OU's flagship station WDFN-AM (1130) with Mario Impemba (play by play) and Neal Ruhl (color) on the call.
