ELMHURST, Ill. - The Oakland University women's tennis team is picked to finish seventh in The Summit League pre-season poll, released by the league office Thursday afternoon. The Golden Grizzlies received 23 points and finished ahead of Centenary and South Dakota State.
IPFW was picked to finish first, receiving five first place votes for a total of 61 points. In second was Oral Roberts with three first place votes and 57 points and third went to Southern Utah who had a first place vote and 45 points. Rounding out the top six were Western Illinois (4th - 43 pts), UMKC (5th - 42 pts) and IUPUI (6th - 26 pts).
Junior Jackie Dinicu had a solid fall season as she won the Flight C Singles championship at the Niagara Invitational. Returning from last year's team in addition to Dinicu are senior Gabrielle Gogas, sophomore Karen Karoub, sophomore Caryn Shermetaro and sophomore Caitlin Young. Newcomers to the squad are junior Amanda Pettey and freshman Alexandra Reed.
