ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Oakland University outdoor track and field team will take part in The Summit League Outdoor Track and Field Championship on Thursday-Saturday, May 14-16 in Cedar City, Utah on the campus of Southern Utah University.

Meet action will begin for OU on Wednesday, May 14 with the men's hammer throw at 5 p.m. EST, followed by the men's and women's 10K at 7 p.m. EST and 7:45 p.m. EST, respectively.

What to Watch For

Distance Events
The Golden Grizzlies look to make a mark in the 5K and 10K events. Junior Zack Jones holds the third best time in the league with his school-record shattering 14:21.64 5K mark he set at the Bison Outdoor Classic in Lewisburg, Pa. Also ranking in the top-10 in the event are freshman Pat Cassady (14:59.53) and sophomore Brandon Griffin (15:06.87).

On the women's side, junior Erica D'Angelo and freshman Lia Jones hold the fourth and fifth best times in the league with marks of 17:10.29 and 17:20.92.

Javelin Throw
The javelin throw could also prove to be an ace in the hole for the Golden Grizzlies. Freshman Ryan Balzer and sophomore John Butler hold the third and fourth best marks in the league with distances of 171 feet, 2 inches and 170 feet, 4.75 inches, respectively.

800 Run
Senior Joe Goike will be Oakland's frontrunner in the 800-meter run, as he topped off the regular season with an OU season-best time of 1:52.33, ranking him fifth in the league.

For the women, freshman Emily Wickemeyer set the school record in the event with her time of 2:17.29, ranking her seventh in the league.

Jumps
Freshman Micah Jones has set school records for the Golden Grizzlies in the high jump (5-5), long jump (18-11.75) and triple jump (38-6). She ranks in the top 10 in all three of these events in The Summit League.
