DETROIT - Freshman Karen Karoub took her match with Detroit's Aneta Maricevic to three sets, eventually dropping a 4-6, 6-2, 10-8 decision, as the Oakland University women's tennis team (5-8) dropped a 7-0 decision to Detroit (12-6) on Tuesday at the Franklin Athletic Club.
The Golden Grizzlies were unable to take any of the remaining singles points past the second set, coming the closest at the No. 1 singles point as Lindsay Grimmer dropped a 6-3, 6-2 decision to UDM's Annie Moore.
Oakland will conclude its regular season with four matches at The Summit League's second cluster of matches this weekend in Macomb, Ill. on the campus of Western Illinois University. With a 2-2 league record, the Golden Grizzlies remain in the running for a berth in the upcoming Summit League championship tournament, April 24-25 in Fort Wayne, Ind.
