Oakland vs. UMKC
Postgame Quotes

Oakland University Head Coach Beckie Francis

Opening Statement
"I think this team continues to show how mentally tough they are. They showed a lot of resiliency. UMKC is a very good team. They swept IUPUI and they took Oral Roberts to three points, and it's nice to get a sweep of a really good team."

On the team's performance
"We prepare well. I think every single practice, except for maybe one, we've had a good practice. And yesterday I think we had the best practice we've ever had. We've got to keep working hard in practice, and then when we roll the ball out the good habits should carry over."

On what is working for the team right now
"I think right now it's having faith in everyone and giving everyone a shot. We have some things we have to clean up, sometimes we get a little sloppy, and we have to take care of the ball a little better."

On the team's motivation
"We're not looking at the standings, we don't know what seed we are, and anything can happen today and Monday. We know what it's like to have to play three in a row. We just want to keep improving as a team and focusing on us."

Junior guard Melissa Jeltema

On joining the 1,000-point club
"It was just one of those outside goals that I had for the year. I didn't think about it too much during the season, I just kind of went out there and played, but it's nice to reach my goal."

Senior guard Jessica Pike

On the team's performance of late
"We just have the mindset going into the tournament that we want to be as sharp, and as on top of our game as we can. We come out every game and play the best defense that we can. That's really the only reason why we won by double digits was because our defense was so good."

On the team's mindset going into the tournament as one of the top seeds
"It doesn't matter who we play. In the opening-round games, you see upsets all the time, even in the bigger conferences. So it doesn't matter who we play, we just have to go in and play and play the best we can."
