AKRON, Ohio - Freshman Sandra Czerska won three individual events and swam on the winning 400-yard medley relay team with senior Agnes Solan, sophomore Johanna Gustafsson and sophomore Alyssa Vela that shaved 10 seconds off their season-best time, posting a mark of 3:52.67, to lead the Oakland University women's swimming and diving team (3-2) past Akron, 156-144, on Saturday afternoon at the Ocasek Natatorium.
Czerska finished with the top time in the 100 butterfly (56.80), 200 fly (2:03.66) and 200 individual medley (2:08.20). Junior diver Chelsea Oates posted scores of 272.23 and 268.13 to sweep the one- and three-meter springboards for the Golden Grizzlies.
Gustafsson captured the 100 breaststroke with a season-best time of 1:05.34 and finished first in the 200 breast with a time of 2:26.00. Senior Agnes Solan posted a season-best mark in the 100 backstroke (56.52). Solan finished runner-up in the 200 back with a time of 2:07.37.
In the 1000 free, freshmen JulieAnne Stears and Candace Savonen finished 1-2 with times of 10:31.01 and 10:37.27, respectively. Stears tallied a second-place finish in the 500 free for Oakland with a time of 5:08.09.
Junior Corey Tschannen touched the wall with a season-best time of 24.48 in the 50 free to finish in second place for the Golden Grizzlies. The final top-two finisher for OU was junior Emily Wike, clocking a time of 2:26.33 in the 200 breast.
Oakland will train over the next two weeks in preparation for the prestigious Miami University Invitational on Dec. 3-5 in Oxford, Ohio.
