POSTGAME QUOTES

Oakland University Head Coach Beckie Francis

On the team's defense today
"(Taking away the three) was our strategy. We gave up a couple easy ones at the end, I think because we had such a lead, and as April said we had a bit of a lack of focus. That said, I couldn't have asked for a better performance from our team. We played like we had a 20-point lead the whole game. It felt like we had the game under control right from the beginning."

On coming on the road and getting off to a hot start
"I was very happy with our patience and shot selection. We had a couple turnovers early. After that we settled down, we got our shooters the ball, and our defense took care of business. Getting some easy buckets and some fast breaks certainly helped."

On the largely pro-Oakland crowd
"It was awesome. It was a testimony to our team spirit, and our administration's support in sending the students down."

Senior Guard April Kidd

On the team's defense
"They actually got a couple threes off at the end, and that was because of a lack of focus. Overall I think our defense was amazing. We played great team defense, I think the best we've played all season."

On whether or not OU was trying to take the 3-pointer away from IPFW
"Going in we knew that was their game plan. We knew going into the game that they liked to shoot a lot of threes. Our plan was to stop the threes. Obviously we let them get a couple off. We'll have to do a better job next time and not let them get off so many threes."

On OU's hot start to start the game
"We feed off our defense, and we're known for that. Once we get our defense going our offense just comes naturally. We just go on a run and don't stop."

On OU's six-game winning streak building confidence
"Definitely. Playing on the road is always tough. I think that has given us a lot of confidence. We have so many games left and we want to make a big impact going into the tournament."
