Golden Grizzlies Release 2008-09 Men's Hoops Schedule

OU will host Michigan and Michigan State at the Palace of Auburn Hills.

Complete Schedule

ROCHESTER, Mich. - Games at Oregon (Nov. 17), Syracuse (Nov. 21), Iowa (Nov. 23), Kansas State (Nov. 25), Las Vegas Tournament (Nov. 28-29) and contests versus in-state foes Michigan (Dec. 20) and Michigan State (Dec. 27) highlight the Oakland University men's basketball schedule, released by head coach Greg Kampe on Friday. The Golden Grizzlies open the season on the road at Cleveland State at home on Nov. 15.

"We are excited about the schedule," said Kampe who enters his 25th season on the bench. "We think it gives us an opportunity for national prominence. We play on the East Coast, and the West Coast. We play some of the top traditional teams in the country. It gives our new young players an opportunity to see what the best in college basketball is about. It fits in with the tradition of the way we've scheduled since we've been Division I. We've tried to schedule all the great teams any time, any place, and this fits that.

"To be able to host Michigan and Michigan State is a real feather in our cap. We really need the fans to come out and support us those two games by filling the Palace."

The Grizzlies will face Delaware State in Las Vegas on Nov. 28. The games with Iowa and Kansas State are also part of the Las Vegas Tournament. OU will also travel to Cleveland State (Nov. 15), Green Bay (Dec. 18) and Eastern Michigan (Dec. 22). The Grizzlies will host Toledo (Dec. 7) in the Athletics Center O'Rena to round out non-conference action.
