BROOKINGS, S.D. - Senior Lauren Duquette contributed 21 digs, senior Amy Golem rounded up 10 kills and sophomore Katy Wilson had 14 assists, but it was not enough for the Oakland University volleyball team, as they fell in three sets to South Dakota State 25-20, 25-17 and 25-16.
"We were never able to find consistency offensively tonight," said head coach Rob Beam. "We made many unforced hitter's errors, which is uncharacteristic of our team."
The Golden Grizzlies fought through a first set that saw four ties and three lead changes, but just couldn't quite find their way on top, as they fell 25-20.
A bright spot for the Golden Grizzlies continues to be Duquette, who in addition to her 21 digs, also added two assists.
"Lauren Duquette turned in another gusty performance," said Beam. "She was fantastic for us defensively."
Seniors Stephanie Parkin and Leah Dupuie also combined to contribute 15 kills, eight and seven respectively. Sophomore Samantha Filipek notched 12 assists as well for the Golden Grizzlies.
Oakland will look snap their three-match losing streak when they travel to Fargo, N.D. to take on North Dakota State Saturday, Nov. 8 for a 7 p.m. tilt.
