Adrienne Leone (Clinton Township, Mich.) of Oakland???s volleyball team was named the Summit League???s Offensive Player of the Week for her performance in a 3-0 week for the Golden Grizzlies, the league announced today. Leone was voted MVP and earned a spot on the All-Tournament team for her role in guiding OU to the championship in the second annual Oakland Volleyball Tournament. Leone totaled 41 kills in 11 games, averaging 3.73 kills per game. Her 17 kills against Toledo were a season high while her 13 against LaSalle were her second-most in a three-game match this campaign. In the LaSalle match she was particularly effective, with 13 kills in 28 attempts for a .393 hitting percentage. The Golden Grizzlies posted wins over LaSalle (3-0), St. Francis (3-0) and Toledo (3-2) to take the tournament title. The match against the Rockets was a nailbiter, as OU was down 2-0 and rallied for the come from behind victory. It marks the first time since joining Division I that the Golden Grizzlies have won three consecutive matches, as well as the first time that they???ve won three straight at the O???Rena.
