Rochester, Mich. (May 8, 2007) ???C New Oakland head volleyball coach
Rob Beam has signed his first recruit for the Golden Grizzlies with the announcement today that
Katy Wilson (Midlothian, Texas) signed an National Letter of Intent with OU. She will be with the Golden Grizzlies for the 2007 season. Wilson will graduate in June from Midlothian High School, which is just south of the Dallas area. A three-time letterwinner at Midlothian, she was the team captain, first-team all-district and MVP of the team as a senior and was voted ???most athletic??? in the senior class. As a junior she was a second-team all-district selection as well as earning offensive player of the year and academic all-district honors. Wilson plays her club volleyball with the Skyline Juniors 18 Roshambo in Dallas, which is currently ranked 15th in the nation. ???I am thrilled to announce that
Katy Wilson will join the Golden Grizzlies this fall,??? said Beam. ???As a setter for Dallas Skyline, a nationally competitive open level club team, she will be able to make an immediate impact on our program. In watching her play I noticed right away that she was highly skilled, fiercely competitive, and both mentally and physically tough. Off the court Katy is smart, funny, outgoing, and a young woman of character. She will not only be a contributor on the court, but she will be a great addition to both the Oakland University and Rochester communities.??? ???I really enjoyed Coach Beam and the girls (on the team),??? remarked Wilson. ???The campus is really pretty and the athletic facilities are outstanding. I'm looking forward to coming in next year and making an impact on the team. I can't wait to be a Grizzly!"
