Holland, Mich. (May 14, 2007) ???C Oakland women???s basketball senior Nicole Piggott (Pewamo, Mich.) was named to the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan Academic/Athletic honor team, announced late last week. The BCAM selects a men???s team and a women???s team of five players each from across NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA schools. Players must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.2 grade point average to be eligible and are selected based on a combination of athletic and academic credentials. Piggott maintained a 3.95 cumulative grade point average as a clinical lab science major. The senior has garnered numerous accolades for her academic achievements, including a spot on the Division I-AAA Athletics Directors Association Scholar-Athlete team, ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV third team, and multiple citations to the Mid-Continent Conference Academic All-Conference team. Piggott led the Golden Grizzlies in scoring as a senior, averaging 14.5 points and 5.5 rebounds. She compiled 1,439 career points to rank tenth all-time at Oakland. This past season Piggott was named to the Mid-Con All-Conference first team and the All-Tournament team.
