(Feb. 16, 2007) ???C Oakland???s men???s basketball team finishes its last Mid-Con road trip of the season on Saturday with a visit to Southern Utah. The Golden Grizzlies will be looking to take a split of its two-game road trip after being dealt a tough overtime loss at UMKC on Thursday. Despite the loss the Golden Grizzlies have a solid grip on second-place in the Mid-Con standings with their 8-3 league mark; a game and a half in front of third-place Valparaiso. Oakland had a chance to win at the end of regulation at UMKC, but Johnathon Jones??? (Okemos, Mich.) shot at the buzzer was off the mark. Shawn Hopes (Detroit, Mich.) hit the 20-point mark for the fourth time this season, leading OU with 20 in the loss. Derick Nelson (Lansing, Mich.) contributed his fifth double-double of the season with 10 points and 14 rebounds. Oakland takes a 4-2 conference road record into Cedar City for the match-up with Southern Utah, the second-best road mark in the Mid-Con.
