Lauren Duquette (Clinton Township, Mich.). Centenary (9-15, 0-6 Mid-Con) got to within four at 16-12, but that was as close as the Ladies would get as OU went on a 9-2 run, getting a pair of kills and blocks from
Leah Dupuie (Leonard, Mich.), as Oakland put the game away. Game two proved to be a see-saw affair, with neither team holding more than a two-point lead most of the way. Oakland started with an early 6-1 lead after an ace from Leone, but Centenary caught back up and tied the game at 6-6 on a kill from Lindsay Bekelja. The game remained tight after that, and the two squads found themselves deadlocked for the 17th time at 27-27. Leone put away consecutive kills, but the Ladies came back to tie again at 29-all. Lippert gave OU game point with a kill, and then the Golden Grizzlies put away the close contest on a Centenary attack error. Once again it was OU that took the early lead in game three at 6-2 after a block from Lippert and
Becca Moller (Columbiaville, Mich.), but Centenary came back once again as well, taking a 10-8 lead after an OU error. Trailing 19-18, Lippert got a kill that started a 4-0 run that put the Golden Grizzlies back up 22-19. OU never trailed after that, and put another 3-0 run on the Ladies to take a 27-23 lead on another Lippert put away. Centenary got to within two at 28-26, but the Golden Grizzlies got kills from Lippert and
Stephanie Parkin (Clarkston, Mich.) to close out the win. Lippert wound up leading all players with 20 points on the evening, putting a .462 hitting mark. Leone had a double-double of 16 kills and 12 digs, with Duquette leading the team in the digs category with 19. Centenary did have a player in double figures in kills, with Danielle Bochat getting eight kills and 17 digs to lead the team in both categories. Ashlee Freeman had eight kills as well for the Ladies. Oakland, which remains unbeaten by Centenary, had 10 aces and 10 blocks for the night and out hit the Ladies by a .314 to .216 margin. Oakland continues its Mid-Con trip tomorrow with a match at Oral Roberts starting at 8 p.m. Eastern.
